Just Surrender, Men.
I was reading this article in the National Post and it literally made me laugh out loud. It was written by a man (excerpt from a novel) complaining about the "inequality" of men and women in a relationship. He starts of saying that when he first started to date his wife, he did everything for her and his friends made fun of him and labelled him "Whipped." Years later, he marries her, has a couple of kids and one night, she tells him that he has no personality--that he needed to figure who he was.
Frustrated, he wrote that women wanted men to become the impossible. That we want mean to be emotionally in-tune, reliable, sensitive and caring. Yet, at the same time, when they are not macho and masculine, we complain that they are sissies and have no personality. (HAHAH). Then again, back to my blog about the lover vs. the fighter. It may be true that we want it all.. but heck, I think we play both roles for the men as well!
The author brought up a really good point.. he said that the reason men hang on so dearly to their work is because it is the only thing that they can feel good about. When they come home, they know that they cannot be better parents than their wives - they cannot cook, clean, and care for their children better than their wives. We women pull the double shift all the time -- work 9-5, come home and work 5-12 tending to our families. We are fighters in the work force, trying to find our place in the work force, and we are the lovers at home.
So I say, we deserve a little bit of effort from men... Fair and Square!
